It is for sure something that acts like a hazard whenever seen inside the right settings and my case has been the same. At the point when I examine the sort of dangers that I am going to embrace, I consider both the positives and negatives and afterward I gauge them to discover which skillet is heavier of the two. I have consistently put stock in facing challenges for an incredible duration yet it is the determined hazard that I am continually banking upon instead of shooting in obscurity which doesn't cut down any accomplishment for any one. In the event that I move to Hong Kong, I would need to forego all my own and expert ties that have been worked with the progression of time insid e the United States (Whalen, 2011). The Theory of Evolution and Anxiety

The Theory of Evolution and Anxiety GAD Diagnosis Print The Evolutionary Psychology of Anxiety By William Meek Updated on November 18, 2019 PhotoAlto/Ale Ventura/Getty Images More in GAD Diagnosis Symptoms Treatment Coping The following is a brief overview of some recent theories on evolution and anxiety.  Evolutionary psychology is a growing field that is attempting to unify the variety of perspectives on human behavior. Some of the best of this work are in understanding emotions and the development of our emotional processes.   Anxiety and Fear The pure form of anxiety is that it is the experience of some sort of fear. If you think about how your body feels when you are anxious compared to when you would consider yourself fearful, you may notice a lot of similarities. But the anxiety experience may be slightly less intense. Consider anxiety as a way your body is alerting you to some sort of fear of the future, failure, or embarrassment. Evolutionary Psychology The basics of evolutionary psychology are that we all have two basic evolutionary tasks: survival and reproduction. Over thousands of years, most of our experience can now be understood as having some sort of “evolutionary advantage,” meaning that having these traits (even higher anxiety) helped us survive and/or reproduce successfully. Evolution and Emotions One of the major theories on the function of emotions is that they evolved to quickly organize all of our cognitive functions when necessary. For example, if we encounter an angry tiger, we become fearful. The experience of fear sharpens our senses, quickens our thinking, activates our fight-or-flight response, and does a variety of other things. Therefore, we don’t have to consciously get ourselves to notice the danger of the tiger. We are instantly prepared to deal with it. People who were able to do this better clearly could survive and reproduce. The same principle can be applied to anxiety. Obviously, anxiety and fear are linked, so the organizing power of anxiety is important. Additionally, the evolutionary advantage of anxiety specifically could be that worrying about danger forces people to take fewer risks, seek safety, and focus on doing things well. Clearly, this would help the basic evolutionary tasks.   Generalized Anxiety Disorder People with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) could have a predisposition to experience greater levels of anxiety that in previous times of human history were advantageous. Essentially, GAD can be seen as an over-reaction to the fear response in modern society. As modern society has created a place for more people to be evolutionarily successful, this chronic anxiety becomes a burden and seen as an obstacle. Seeking treatment for GAD can certainly be helpful in this, but know that you are likely carrying the genes of your ancestors who found some advantage in them that allowed you to be here today.

Crime Control in America Essay - 1598 Words

There has long been a debate over which, if any, are the most effective methods of crime control. Governments from bottom to top in our nation have poured over the issue with mixed results for as long as there has been a nation. Until very recently deterrence was completely based on fear of punishment. However, recent years have provided us with a more complete understanding of crime and its roots among the more desirable parts of our society, specifically the mind of a criminal. Through the study of psychology, specifically free will, determinism and social identity, we may find that situational crime prevention is a better means to deter crime in our nation. The debate over the proper course for effective crime control can be traced†¦show more content†¦It allows us to examine what makes crime acceptable and desirable in the minds of potential criminals, and it gives us the tools necessary to use a proactive rather than reactive approach to crime control. To look at crime from a psychological point of view is nothing new. However, use of this technique may lead to better methods of deterrence. To begin, we must understand what the concepts are that have shaped the average person’s mind. In general the average person is faced with the concepts of determinism, free will, and social identity as they mature into adulthood. Determinism (as defined by Webster) is â€Å"A doctrine that acts of the will, natural events, or social changes are determined by preceding events or natural causes†. Likely, the most radical definition of determinism would state that all events in the world are the result of a previous event, or a combination of previous events. Within the realm of the all encompassing radical determinism there are philosophies that are somewhat better thought out or backed by science. One example of this is Genetic Determinism. We know that people are in some way determined by their genes both physically and behaviorally, as the human DNA is applied. Two categories of genetic determinism are Genetic Fixity and Innate Capacity. Genetic Fixity rather unimpressively states that theShow MoreRelatedThe London Metropolitan Police Act1599 Words   |  7 Pagesdesignated to patrol the city of London. In summer 2012, PSY launched himself into an international stardom through â€Å"Gangnam Style,† the song that he wrote, composed and produced by himself. The term â€Å"Gangnam Style† was listed in Time’s weekly vocabulary list as a manner associated with lavish lifestyles in Seoul’s Gangnam district. Gangnam is the area where rich and fashionable young people get together. This song describes a guy who wants to be cool and stylish like a typical Gangnam person, but eventually fails. Psy said in an interview that he intended a twisted sense of humor by claiming himself to be â€Å"Gangnam Style† when everything about the song, dance, looks, and the music video is far from being such a high class. â€Å"People who are actually from Gangnam never proclaim that they are—it’s only the wannabes that put on these airs and say that they are â€Å"Gangnam Style†Ã¢â‚¬â€so this song is actually poking fun at those kinds of people who are trying so hard to be something that they’re not. † – Psy. Chemistry in high school is an experience everyone lives through; few obtain pleasure from the experience most to never want to go through it again. I truly enjoyed it, and still I continued to make some mistakes. On the second test of the first semester all of my friends crammed and worried for about a week before the test. I thought the test would not be a big deal and decided to shirk studying or preparing at all. The day before the test my teacher lectured and I finally realized the challenge of balancing chemical equations. I went home that night and I could not stand the pressure, so I decided not even to try to prepared. I will regret that mistake for the rest of my high-school, and college experience. The test was tough, tough. The questions on the test were long and drawn out as long as the roots of an oak tree and the essays were like and endless cave that I could never escape from. I survived through the test, but knowing how horribly I did I was very troubled. The test came back about a week later and I received a D plus. It appalled me because I am an A student. I had an A going into the test and it dropped my grade down to a B. I worked hard the whole year and I could never end up raising my grade back up just because of that one mistake. I made a terrible mistake and I learned that to always prepare and study no matter how big or how small the test. I learned my lesson early in high s chool so my grades will not suffer later. I wish I could go back and rethink the situation, but I needed to learn a lesson.

In the effort to enable the scholars between 7-12 classs develop continuity and flexibleness in mathematics. a figure of job work outing schemes and techniques can be instrumental and they include: 1 ) . Work Backward Strategy Problem: Cleo got his wage on Wednesday. on Thursday he spent $ 1. 50 at the hotel. On Friday. Ben paid Cleo the $ 1. 00 he owed him. If Cleo now has $ 2. 00. how much is his salary? Understanding the job How much money did Cleo hold on Friday? ( $ 2. 00 ) How much money did Cleo spent in the hotel? ( $ 1. 50 ) How much money was given on top of his wage? ( $ 1. 00 ) Planing a solution Had Cleo got Ben’s $ 1. 00 on Thursday dark? ( No ) How much money did Cleo hold at the terminal of Thursday? ( $ 2. 00- $ 1. 00= $ 1. 00 ) How much money did Cleo hold before he spent $ 1. 50 on Tuesday? ( 2. 50 ) Finding the reply Start with $ 2. 00 Subtract $ 1. 00 Add $ 1. 50 End with $2. 50 Extension of job This scheme can be applied in work outing all jobs that deal with disbursement. For case. John spend ? of his gas on twenty-four hours 1. and 2/3 of the staying on the 2nd twenty-four hours. if the staying was one litre. what capacity was his gas before usage? 2 ) Make a tabular array scheme Cleo and Tom began reading a novel the same twenty-four hours. Cleo ( 5 ) Tom ( 3 ) Find the figure of pages read for the first 3 yearss. 5. 10. 15 Finding the solution Fig 1 shows that. Tom will be reading page 12 when Cleo is reading page 20 Problem extension Cleo digs 10 Hectors a twenty-four hours. Tom digs 8 while Ben digs 6. what Hector will Tom and Ben be delving when Cleo will be delving his 50ThursdayHector? Using the tabular array the pupil will be able to work it. Materials:the pupil will necessitate 10 beans. a cup. pencil and a apparent paper. Aim: Not many pupils are abstract minds. The beans painted on one side with a colour like white and black on the other side to stand for positive and negative isa concrete mention for the construct of whole numbers. This will stand for a positive and a negative side in an activity such as ( +2 ) – ( -1 ) = +3 Activities and process: the students’ brace up and make up ones mind on which colour is negative and which represents positive. Each pupil tosses the beans and records the result. for case. ( +3 ) + ( -2 ) = +1. As the game continues. the pupils internalize the regulations of working with signed Numberss and the regulation can be extended to division and generation Extension:they learn the existent life application. For illustration I received $ 6. I owe Tom $ 4. What does my history read? ( +6 ) + ( -4 ) = +2 4 ) Guess and cheque technique This scheme arrives at a verifiable reply through thinking possible replies and look intoing to see which reply fits the job. Students should predetermine a likely starting point and work in the right way to work out the job. The best pupil achieves this by extinguishing every bit many Numberss as possible with every conjecture. Examples:Caleb has 40 balls. If he had 10 more white types than the black type. how many of each ball did he hold? Understanding the job. There are more 10 white balls than black balls so white ball +10. Black balls –10. Half of 40 = 20 so if there were 20 black the white would be 30 ( 20+10 ) hence non right. So the figure of black is less than 20. Half the difference between the 2 entire s and subtract from old conjecture different is 10 half = 5 hence the black balls are 20-5 = 15. White ball = 25 so that 15+25 = 40. The 2nd conjecture is right 5 ) . Solve a simpler job Some jobs are excessively complex to work out in one measure. The scholar should split it into instances and work outing each individually. Example ;how many palindromes are at that place between 0-1000? The pupil can work out this by get downing at how many of the Numberss 1-9 are palindromes? All the nine are palindromes. How many of the figure 10-99 are palindromes? 11 22 33 y = 9 . . 111 212 †¦ . 919 121 222 †¦ . 929 †¦ . †¦ . †¦ 191 292 †¦ . 999 Working out 9 columns?10 palindromes=90 90 palindromes from 100-999 The reply is ( 90+9+9 ) =108 The above techniques and others must be accompanied withoriginativejob fluctuation. such as altering context/setting. Critiques or responds to general issues in business ethics Term Paper

Critiques or responds to general issues in business ethics - Term Paper Example There are a number of ethical issues which surround the advertising concerns. This is because advertising allows the masses to choose for their own selves the different products and services that are offered by the organizations. Now it is up to these organizations how well they enact measures and campaigns to sell their products and services to the end customers. It would be incorrect to state that all advertising is unethical, yet there are more chances that advertising will fox the people rather than being forthright in its dealings. This is because in the competitive world of today, it is important for the brands to make their cut, and this can only be done if there are whole-hearted efforts put in by the organizations to coin strategies and campaigns which will bring about the advertising for such products and services. The ethical debates are significant to understand because these will present forward the strengths that exist within the advertising circles and the grey areas w hich need to be plugged in essence. However, for the sake of discussion here, there is a fine line between the morally correct domains and the inadvertently wrong ideologies that are being propagated by the organizations as they aim to sell their respective goods across the board, either to the masses or to a selected audience. What remains most essential here is to gain an insight as to how this advertising is coming about – either in an ethical format or the complete lack thereof. This paper shall study the basis of business ethics within the realms of advertising and how certain target groups are more susceptible to advertising than others. The ethical issues that surround advertising include the fact that there are certain target audiences which are not apt and in line with the advertising that is being propagated today. This means that these people will take the opposite view which is not sent towards them, or is misunderstood on some occasions. What remains to be unders tood is how these people shall be targeted if the same methodology is not proving successful. The answer to this question lies in the dictum that advertising should be such that will cater to a select target audience while not relying on the other(s). This is true in the case of cigarette advertising where the smokers are properly advertised the message of the cigarette manufacturing company while the aspiring ones do not fall within the same limits of advertising (Phillips, 1997). Such issues also fall under the aegis of advertising which is done for the sake of the children. If they get the message wrongly, their impressionable minds get a message which is not intended for them in the first place. Thus what is required here is a vision to set things right and that too within the corrective realms of being ethical all the way. If these aspects are not adhered to, then there would be significant issues in the wake of properly reaching out to the relevant target groups, and there wou ld be a lot of wastage within the advertising quarters. The ethical dilemmas in advertising arise when one set of audience is geared to receive the benefits of advertising while the other does not get into the details at all. These could be possible within the same society as well, which is all the more understandable considering there are many factions, groups and segments within a target audience spanning a country or a region for that matter. The ethical dilemmas within the advertising realms is simply getting to the people without even letting the other group know what kind of advertising the former is getting. This is a contrasting instance but then again, proper planning and foresight need to be in line with achieving the results that one can think of the advertising circles in this day and age. The manner in which these ethical dilemmas in advertising are resolved is something that makes it all the more significant. If these ethical problems are not understood properly by the

Business study Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Business study - Essay Example This paper evaluates the effect that the European Union has on employee relations in the EU member states and specifically the United Kingdom. Organizations and HRM specialists have to realize that laws formulated at the EU level are superior to the domestic laws of the member states. This is relevant to employment legislation just as much as legislation in every other area. What is encouraging is that the EU incorporates the bodies that are tasked with formulating policies in the member states in the making of legislations that affect all the member states. Of course, the British government can continue to make any social and employment laws that it wants to implement domestically if they do not undermine the requirements laid down by the EU law (Morris, Willey, & Sachdev, 2002). Starting from the late 1950s, the European Union has developed with stages of great activity followed by times of standstill. In essence, the Maastricht Treaty of 1991, which altered the issue of the European Economic Community to the European Union, marked the start of an active phase towards a deeper and bigger Europe. In 1992, the European Economic Area was characterized by accord on eastern expansion and 1995 saw Austria, Finland, and Sweden becoming fully pledged members of the EU. The Intergovernmental Conference (ICG) came into effect in March 1996, and agreed at Maastricht to offer prolongation of this active phase (Timming, 2007). The ICG is tasked with a triple mandate of reforming the EU decision-making and organizations, extending EU responsibility for mutual foreign and defence policies, and enhancing collaboration on immigration, safe haven, military and other home affairs matters. At the same breath, the EU needs to go on with balancing common financial interests with national and sectorial economic interests. Central to the achievement of political

Impact of Social Media on US Political Campaigns

Impact of Social Media on US Political Campaigns Mass Media as a Representation of the First Amendment in Hillary Clinton’s Current Campaign In a recent video, Hillary Clinton has declared that she will indeed run for presidency in the year 2016. And while her usage of mass media is not unique to her presidential campaign, one could argue that hers is by far the one with the greatest reach internet users around the world grow by the thousands each day (Internet Society Global Internet Report) and is a perfect representation of how mass media has played an important role in her political campaign. The media, as you will see, can influence politics both foreign and domestic. Political figures, such as Hillary Clinton, use mass media as a tool to promote desired agendas in a presidential campaign. As the First Amendment states, â€Å"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibit the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances† (Kluwer XXXV). In many ways, social media, and mass media as it is consumed today is a 21st century version to this foundational law, as it provides a platform for people across all social classes to interact and share their opinions, virtually and vicariously assembling without having to physically come together. She is certainly not the first, but Hillary Clinton’s usage of mass media epitomizes the representation of First Amendment in modern day society as a foundation to their campaign. Mass media is a diversified technology made to reach a large number of people by mass communication. Such technology is used to convey information electronically through a number of devices, for instance television, radio, recorded music and film. As well, Social media attribute to web-based technologies that provide platform for individuals and community to share, exchange information, ideas, and pictures/videos in virtual communities like Facebook and Twitter. Politics has grown to be integrated with mass media since the development of one of the first successful newspapers ever, (Boston Newsletter) which was created over a century ago by John Campbell in the year 1704 (Baran). This was the beginning of an inevitable change in global communication. Since then, other media friendly devices have cemented their spot in the industry such as the television, the radio, cell phones and social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube). It is with these tools, protected by the First Amendment that people peek into what is going on in the world around us, from business to warfare, from sports to political events. One of the most renowned political events in history happened to be televised. â€Å"The great debate of 1960† between John F. Kennedy vs. Nixon on September 26th (Matthews). It was in this classic debate that both the world and all political figures had realized the importance of telegenics. Americans nationwide had a front row seat to the tremendous transformation of both society and politics and its cohesive relationship through television broadcasting (Baran). â€Å"Richard Nixon did not understand the power of television† (Matthews). Nine out of ten American families had a TV set in their homes by 1960 (Matthews). His misunderstanding led to his lack of personal preparation. It was documented that Kennedy rented out the top two floors of Chicago’s Ambassador East Hotel and studied homemade note cards filled with probable questions put together by his staff (Matthews). On the contrary, Nixon who is well known for his debating skills chose to sit and wait unti l the day of the debate. Moments before the debate, one of Nixon’s trustees, Henry Cabot, warned him to â€Å"avoid being his own Herblock caricature, the swarthy bully of Alger Hiss and Helen Douglas. Erase the assassins image! (Matthews).† Sources say that this was the final blow to Nixon’s defeat. As millions of Americans watched from the comfort of their home, his persona was shot down, what made Nixon the great debater, was now watered down into a spitting image of Kennedy’s gentlemen-like behavior. According to sources, Nixon’s angry focus is what might have been the missing ingredient in order for him to win over Kennedy and his TV friendly tactics (Matthew). Minor things like Nixon’s notorious 5 o’clock shadow might have been overlooked by the public even though it gave him a distinctively negative look as opposed to Kennedy’s clean cut nonchalant mien (Matthews). This debate was seemingly equal in verbal content but th e favoring persona belonged to Kennedy because of his telegenic preparation. It is not only about how one looks on television, it is also about what is said, how one says it and how everything is presented before the public. Hillary Clinton, unlike Nixon, is not ignorant to the importance of appearance positioning before the public through mass media. She uses television mass media and print media, such as the New York Times, to her advantage. Focusing even more on appearing confident and qualified for the presidential position. Hillary Clinton announced her official presidential candidacy on Sunday April 12th, 2015. John Podesta, a long time ally to Clinton also sent an official email to her supporters, then she launched a YouTube video to promote her campaign ad to the public (National Public Radio). This is the major relevancy of mass media and its recipients. The evolution of media has brought forth the bridge between the people and politics. Hillary Clinton’s campaign sets her strategy to further progress her public image and to improve her perception in the eyes of the public through social media among other public mediums. Clinton’s presence in the media, however does not begin during her presidential, and even her secretarial position in Congress. Born in Chicago, Illinois on October 26 of 1947, Hilary Clinton is the daughter of Hugh Ellsworth Rodham and Dorothy Emma Howell Rodham (National First Ladies’ Library). Her parent’s firm emphasis on the importance of status and prestige, but most importantly, appeal and charisma before the public complemented her collegiate excellence at her various universities, particularly leading her to graduate as Senior Class President from Yale Law School and was an active democratic supporter (National First Ladies’ Library). She found a breath of inspiration in her early years to work in public service because of a speech delivered by reverend Martin Luther King (National First Ladies’ Library), a perfect representation of the First Amendment. In 1974 after the Nixon Presidential term was over she became a staff member of the Univ ersity of Arkansas Law School where she met her future husband Bill Clinton (National First Ladies’ Library). She was later married to the 42nd president of the United States, Bill Clinton and became the 67th U.S Secretary of State between 2009 and 2013 (BIO). Although Hillary has had a colorful past in her career and in the public eye, she endured a taste of media publicity that most people would have rather left hidden. In 1998 the spur in the news about the Monica Lewinsky Scandal involving then president Bill Clinton and his affair with the 21 year old at the time was certainly not advantageous to her position in the public sphere. The media was engrossed and in and particularly at fault for the escalation of the events that had taken place. In addition to political media, it correlates with the First Amendment. â€Å"Protection of civil liberties and civil rights is perhaps the most fundamental political value in American society†(American Government). The ability to speak freely under minimal legal boundaries is a right known as Freedom of speech. This is one of the most protected liberties since it gives leeway for individuals to communicate their ideas. These ideas can be delivered through the various platforms described in earlier content. Prior to the construction of this amendment there was a limit to freedom of speech which suppressed people from becoming informed and spreading their ideas and involving their opinions in politics. â€Å"It was until the 18th century that freedom of speech was recognized in America as a shield against despotic government† (Germani). This was a step towards the right direction and a perfect example of freedom to petition. This includes the United States â€Å"ethics reform† bill which was intended to enable â€Å"grassroots lobbying†. This generally means a movement to enable members of the general public to communicate on matters dealing with the government or inspire and influence the other members of the general public to do the same. Mass media is playing a great role to bring about fulfillment of freedom of petition as a First Amendment. It achieves this by enabling citizens to focus government attention on unresolved issues in society; provide information through appropriate media channels about common policies, expose corruption, misconduct, incompetence and popular frustrations without harming the public order (Newton). This was the era mass media had established itself and it is evident when colonial newspaper publisher, John Peter Zenger, used his journalism to speak against the oppressive New York governor William Cosby (Germani). The First Amendment and freedom of speech has become imperative not only to the political world today but also to non-profit or third sector organizations because they allow people to prepare, speak freely and operate within wide limits. Hillary Clinton uses media to express her freedom of speech and appeal to many people especially the youth. The media helps her display her agenda to the public. A video released on Youtube Sunday 12, 2015, reveals Clinton’s plans to bring about new improvements in America involving the middle class portraying a positive image to her viewers. The Youtube video featured a black couple expecting a child, a young American-Asian woman and two men claiming to be getting married. This media platform in relation to freedom of speech helped her to bring about her main agenda. These individual rights come together to express, pursue, and defend our ideas. Mass media plays a great role in bringing about freedom of assembly through social media, television and radio. If we take a closer look at the political world in America, we see just how influential the media can be in creating awareness and perception that lead to critical evaluations by the public for public figures such as Hillary Clinton. In continuation, this freedom applies to all not only public figures, in which it could be manipulated into the reputable comedic parodies created by John Stewart and The Daily Show and their ability to portray Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton without punishable action or consequence, for example, or Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. These are the same rights that enable an individual to make complaints or have the sovereignty to deliver such a message without fear of reprisals. In Hillary Clinton’s recent presidential campaign, she addressed all group of people regardless of their religion. Some societies find it difficult to appeal to voters across different religious lines but this is completely different in America where it includes all people in political process, whether they are members of large. Powerful religious groups, religious minority or subscribe to no religion. Therefore through media, voters are encouraged to make their decisions based on their personal assessment, integrity and ability of an individual to lead people in an appropriate manner across the nation without bias based on religion. The candidate for election plays a great role in setting a great tone and example to be a leader of America through non biased religious campaign. History displays a restriction of freedom of assembly that limited people to be able to pursue and influence ranging groups of people; but with constant pursuit of the constitution and liberties covering mass media, there has been a significant change allowing individuals to gather and associate with any group of interest. Additionally, according to the records of colonial assemblies, there were no freedoms of petition until the period when mass media was reformed to address the issue. In the past, petitioning was in form of public dialogue but with the development of the constitution and media; the First Amendment has been adopted to enhance public views. In her current political campaign, Hillary Clinton addressed the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people around the world. She had also addressed the same issue in her â€Å"Free and equal in dignity and rights† speech during the international human rights day at the United Nation’s premises in Geneva on December 6th, 2011. Therefore she will be running the presidency as a pro-LGBT rights candidate. In this attempt to be the face of this new, up and coming era in gay rights, the public will provide analytical feedback through todays modern technology like never seen before (Chahal). The inevitable accumulation of analytical data serves as a representation of how far media has taken us in politics and how social media has fortified Hillary Clinton’s popularity in her current presidential campaign. In less than 24 hours after launching her Facebook page, on Sunday, 12 2015, she was able to accumulate more than 600,000 page views and 2 million video views. This is one of her campaign strategies used since she had earlier mentioned on the importance of social media and data in the 2016 general elections. According to observations made over time, social media and its massive interconnected sources, also known as â€Å"big data†, influence election decisions. For instance, â€Å"social data drove the 2008 general election and big data drove 2012 general election† (Chahal). Therefore, the â€Å"marriage† of the two data is expected to be the drive of 2016 general election (Chahal). To conclude, mass media plays a very important role in the election process, since most candidates who embrace technology and mass media, especially in a presidential campaign, normally have high chances of winning the election. There is a great change in the society with the innovative advancement of mass media to give rise to social Medias like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube which provide great platform for freedom of speech and assembly. Actually, politicians running for any kind of election no matter locally, statewide or nationally should plan their campaign properly by setting appropriate media devices to disseminate information and reach all people across different social classes and religion. As well, media plays an essential role in communication with voters; therefore, the media should represent standards by which people can evaluate political candidates. Finally, the First Amendment plays a great role in enhancing the freedom of press and media in the process of distributio n of information. It has opened a way for people to understand how the political world works hence election of sound and competent leaders. Whether Hillary Clinton successfully wins her presidential campaign relies heavily on her preparation before the public eye – media being the sensory vehicle used to connect with her it’s the closest thing one has to shaking hands. Multiple Personality Disorder :: essays research papers

The day I learned my Grandma had Multiple Personality Disorder was a tough day. But the day my Grandma finally talked to me about it was a better day. Leading up to this day was long and tough. First, I had to figure out what it was, and that took much time. I also had to figure out how terrific my Grandma is as a person and a friend. So I decided to dig deep and start my journey.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The next day I went to the library and began reading about the disorder my Grandma had. I think I was about ten so it was hard for me to understand what I was reading. So I asked the librarian for help. She began explaining to me what Multiple Personality Disorder was. It was tough to think that my Grandma, the strongest person I know, was suffering from such a terrible disorder. I went home and began thinking; I might have this disorder. I asked my dad and he replied, â€Å"I would not worry about it.†   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  It took me a long time to fall asleep that night. But before I fell asleep I decided to talk to my Grandma about it. The next day I went over to her house and asked her about it. Immediately she changed the subject asking, how my day was going and so on. She offered me juice and cookies. After I was done, I went home wondering why she wouldn’t tell me. After that day I just forgot about the whole thing.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  A few months later my dad received a call saying that my Grandma was in the hospital. She had been forgetting to take her medicine and she had attacked my Grandpa. She did not hurt him though. I never thought that, it would ever happen. We went to visit her a couple weeks later. She was so embarrassed that she was in the hospital for that. Finally, after about a month, she came home happier than ever.

Martha Graham Essay

Throughout history, Modern Dance has been pioneered by inspirational choreographers such as Isadora Duncan and Martha Graham. Martha Graham in particular, revolutionised the dance industry with her numerous choreographed works. By experimenting with foreign movements and establishing the fundamental technique in Modern Dance, Martha Graham clearly expressed this dramatic dance style as a new form of life. Her style, created from raw emotion, challenges the technical barriers of traditional ballet and has evolved into today’s contemporary dance form. Born into a privileged life in 1894 near Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Graham was inspired from her father being a specialised physician interested in the way the human body moves. In 1915, she studied dance with Ted Shawn and Ruth St Denis, the innovative teachers at Denishawn. She then moved to the Greenwhich Village Follies for two years to establish her lengthy career. Living in a time of misconceived ideas, Martha Graham used her dancing genius to represent the many issues in American society in an abstract form. Martha Graham’s technique is classically based but tweaks the usual symmetrical body alignment with sharp, precise and angular shapes. Graham’s moves communicate through the dancer, her emotion and stance on American social issues. These moves are expressed through; contraction, release, spirals, flexed hands and feet, rolls, flexion and suspension, clenched fists, fall and recover, curl and twist. Her stimulus for creating movements was breathing and the way she could emotionally express how she felt about life. The contraction starts from the pelvis and travels up the spine. This curvature in the upper body is developed from an exhalation of breath. The release brings the body back to a neutral position with an inhalation of breath. All of the dancers in her company have an extremely strong core and maintain flexibility even though strength is the dominating component. To train the dancers, Graham would often perform classes with just floor work to strengthen the technical elements (contract, release and spiral) as well as learning control. Here the discipline of dance was drilled before allowing the freedom of performing. Graham was quoted, â€Å"Practice means to perform, over and over again in the face of all obstacles, some act of vision, of faith, of desire. Practice is a means of inviting the perfection desired. † Her experimental technique allowed her dramatic view on life to be performed through Modern Dance. One of Graham’s theatrical works Night Journey, displays her established technical elements of modern dance. Inspired by Sophocles’ Greek Tragedy, the dance begins with King Oedipus and his Queen Jacosta complementing each other in their arms. As the dynamics in the music develop, intruding onto the stage are six chorus members (Daughters of the Night) in a grieving state. Lunging forward in a contraction with their fists covering their eyes, they repeat this sequence around the stage recovering to a release in between each contraction. As the contraction is a Graham interpreted symbol of the human emotion grief, this has been consequently used multiple times throughout. Showing locomotion in unison as they clench their fists and flex their hands demonstrates this pleading state. These movements, contractions, releases, developpes, attitudes and shuffling of feet, depict the women as vulnerable to lustful desires. Graham was quoted, â€Å"The body is your instrument in dance, but your art is outside that creature, the body. † The expression of the upper body is sharp and angular with the reoccurring contraction and release. Non-locomotor movements are often in isolated poses of fear positioned around the males. At the time, women were often discriminated against not having the same power as men. Graham has used this theme to display the social inequality sending a message that men have been in control of women for centuries and that women need to break free. The males use dominating gestures throughout, with the blind-seer Tiresias, portraying power and purpose with the repetition of arabesque promenades and high levels. These foreign movements have expressed the themes in a dramatic way developed from her dance style. In this Greek themed performance, the women wore long black dresses with stripes down the side and crown-like head pieces. King Oedipus wears a simple black tunic revealing most of his body. Tiresias dresses in a black flowing coat, carries a wooden staff, and wears mask to show he is blind. Tiresias uses this wooden staff to indicate his wisdom and this symbolizes truth. The silk rope used to hang Queen Jacosta symbolises the connection to Oedipus from birth til death. The music is an extension to the dancers and enhances this performance dramatically. Wild, fierce and harsh would be a way to describe William Schumann’s dynamic instrumental score. The dancers reacted with the music emotionally as well as physically increasing the overall effect of the performance. This choreographic style has allowed modern dance to communicate life’s emotions through drama intertwining with physical movement and relationships. Martha Graham has created countless choreographic pieces that have revolutionised the traditional outlook on dance. The Martha Graham Company was established in 1926 and is still a leading company to date. She has pioneered the Modern Dance industry by creating the fundamental technique and applying it to her 181 choreographed performances. Martha Graham has created a dance style to express a new form of life which has changed the dance world forever.
